On this day in history;

In 1917, the 18th Amendment to the United States Constitution, authorising prohibition of alcohol, was approved by the US congress and sent to the states for ratification.

In 1912, the Piltdown Man, later discovered to be a hoax, was supposedly found in the Piltdown Gravel Pit, by Charles Dawson.

In 1963, the comedy film “The Pink Panther”, directed by Blake Edwards and starring Peter Sellers, David Niven and Claudia Cardinale premiered.
