Radio Adelaide won big at the SACBA Bilby Awards on Saturday night!
The annual Bilby Awards are presented by the South Australian Community Broadcasters Association (SACBA), celebrating the best of SA community radio. Radio Adelaide won awards in three categories:
- Volunteer of the Year went to Julie Francis (pictured), host of The Nostalgia Show, for her courageous and outstanding commitment to her program and her listeners despite having been diagnosed this year with a brain tumour, undergoing many rounds of chemotherapy and even broadcasting Nostalgia from her hospital bed!
- Youth Volunteer of the Year went to Zoe Kounadis for her outstanding commitment as producer and presenter of Breakfast and all-female music program HER.
- The Can’t Get Out of the Car Award went to the Service Voices team for their story, Kate, Rita, Fiona: Three feisty women, a canvas plane and a derelict ship’s hull
Radio Adelaide also came runner-up in the Best OB category, in recognition of its mammoth ten-day live broadcast from the 2018 Royal Adelaide Show, pipped by winner 2Dry FM for its broadcast from the Broken Heel Festival.
