Bluegrass music came from the white rural communities in the uplands of the south-eastern United States, especially the Appalachian Mountains.
The style was developed by Bill Monroe and his band the Blue Grass Boys in the 1940s. From its southern home it has spread throughout the United States, into Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia where it’s alive and well. Bluegrass Unlimited has been our passport to bluegrass music for more than 32 years through legendary presenter Bill Lawson.
Presenter Bill Lawson is very happy to answer any queries from listeners, either by phone to the station immediately after the program on (08) 7132 5000 or by email – lawson@chariot.net.au
