The queer houso and the straight, white, cis-gendered ally from the Apple Aisle

Posted on: Thu 20 Feb 2025

Do opposites really attract to one another? And are either of these two individuals capable of eliciting laughter despite their differing comedic styles and techniques?

Making their interstate debut at the 2025 Adelaide Fringe Festival, Britt Kynde & Kyle Wisniewski are an unlikely pair of uprising stand-up comedians from Queensland, also known as Australia’s wild east who seem determined to shatter the long standing mythical assertion that queerness and heteronormativity don’t get along. Britt & Kyle’s Variety Hour will have you asking, “What do a queer houso and a hopeless romantic from Tasmania (aka the Apple Aisle) have in common?” If you feel any sense of a vibe, then those questions should be answered once the final joke has been executed without selling it a little too short.

Britt and Kyle chatted with Utterly Queer As!‘s Jarad McLoughlin about what drove them to pursue stand-up comedy, surviving getting heckled, and the urgency of safety for queer identifying people on and off the stage. But the conversation started with Jarad asking how they were going?
