Dacre Montgomery

Posted on: Wed 23 Oct 2024

For his second feature film Went Up The Hill, Samuel Van Grinsven (Sequin in a Blue Room) has created an absorbing exploration of power and abuse that demands it’s audience invest in a fantastical story involving selective possession and queer grief. Host of Art Throb, David Jobling, posed some questions to the male lead, Dacre Montgomery (Power Rangers, A Few Best Men, Stranger Things) about preparing for his role of Jack, a character possessed by his Lesbian mother, in this bold and extraordinary film. After it’s world premiere at 2024 Toronto Film Festival the film, Went Up The Hill now has it’s Australian premiere at the 2024 Adelaide Film Festival. Fans of Stranger Things may be surprised this is Montgomery’s first ever Australian character on screen and can spot him on the AFF Red Carpet on 26 October, 8:45 pm at the Piccadilly Cinema, North Adelaide.

Jobling started this conversation by asking, “How long ago was it since filming took place?”
