Spawning the next generation of corals

Researchers at the Australian Institute of Marine Science are spawning the next generation of corals which may hold the key to helping the Great Barrier Reef adapt to changing ocean conditions.
They have raised more than 200 coral colonies from more than 20 different species using the National Sea Simulator, the world’s most advanced research aquarium facility, located near Townsville.
To provide an insight into the work being undertaken by the scientists, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to AIMS principal research scientist, Dr Line Bay.
