The actual impact of Iran protests

Iran is currently undergoing serious protests across the country sparked by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini after her arrest by the morality police.
This is the latest in a series of protests the country has seen in recent years, but more attention is being paid to the current situation by observers as the demonstrations seem to be gaining a significant amount of traction.
So what do we know about these protests and what impact they could actually have?
