Will we “smile to pay”?

Mastercard is introducing a new “Smile to pay” system.
The system will utilise facial recognition technology ostensibly to save us time at the checkout.
“Smile to pay” is already being trialled in Brazil with further trials expected in Middle East and Asia.
Rita Matulionyte, Senior Lecturer in Law at Macquarie University, joins Tom Mann to discuss how will this technology work, and what should we be aware of the potential for significantly increased presence of facial recognition technology.
