New Claims About Facebook’s News Blackout Casts Doubt
Posted on: Wed 11 May 2022
Last February Facebook’s news blackout resulted in many Australian non-news sources such as health and government services being blocked.
This decision from the company was sparked by legislation which sought companies like Google and Facebook to pay for news content published on their platforms.
However with new information coming to light, the company’s decisions appear more deliberate than previously thought.
Associate professor in regulation and governance at the University of New South Wales business school, Dr Rob Nicholls, joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann to discuss this issue.
