MEGADROUGHT AND MEGA-RAINS

Parts of the world are going through megadrought and it will be so common in some places that it will be the new normal. In fact, scientists say, we may already be there. Other parts of the world are changing toward extreme rains and floods, over and over again.
Worst of all in a super-heated future, extreme events like wildfires and floods can follow one another in quick succession, like a one-two punch. This is the new world we make by burning fossil fuels.
Radio Ecoshock’s Alex Smith finds out about all the new science from University of California Assistant Professor and researcher Dr. Samantha Stevenson, working with a small team of expert co-authors.
