First Nations to benefit from renewables
Posted on: Tue 26 Apr 2022
A new alliance of First Nations groups, clean energy industry bodies, unions and research groups has been established. It aims to ensure that First Nations share in the economic benefits of renewable energy projects. The First Nations Clean Energy Network will serve as a key forum to support First Nations communities and businesses to partner with clean energy projects.
It will also ensure the protection of First Nations heritage and respect for native title interests. To find out more about the network, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to Karrina Nolan, Executive Director of Original Power and a key initiator of the Network. She is a descendant of the Yorta Yorta people.
