30 Years of Community Radio: The Folk Show’s David Long

A three-decade long journey in community radio has been filled with folk culture, music and camaraderie.
David Long has been a prominent voice for over 30 years in Radio Adelaide’s current, longest standing program, The Folk Show – making him one of the longest-serving volunteers in the station’s 49-year history.
For almost four decades, the Folk Show has been connecting with listeners and resonating the timeless narratives of Australian and world folk in both traditional and contemporary styles.
In the spirit of Radio Adelaide’s Radiothon, David spoke with Festival City’s, Emma Wotzke about some of the highlights and memorable transitions in community broadcast, and what inspired him to walk through the doors of Radio Adelaide all those years ago.
