In 1945, the microwave was patented by its inventor Percy Spencer in the US. Unbelievably, Spencer never received royalties for it. Instead, he received a $2 gratuity from his employer Raytheon for the invention.
In 1998, the US House of Representatives voted to begin an impeachment trial against President Bill Clinton for denying his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
In 1970, rock and roll pioneer Chuck Berry was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
