Rulla and Marlon

Posted on: Fri 17 Sep 2021

Icon of Australian music Archie Roach has kicked off a new online series Kitchen Table Yarns, where he interviews and introduces new, emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander singer songwriters.

The second episode dropped earlier this week and featured ex-AFL players Rulla Kelly-Mansell, a Tulampanga Pakana Lutruwita man and Marlon Motlop Larrikia and Kungarrany man from Thursday Island in Torres Strait who have teamed up to create an acoustic, hip-hop duo.

Previously, the duo met playing at the Glenelg Football Club and you may have heard them opening for Midnight Oil at WOMAD earlier this year.

Rulla and Marlon join Breakfast’s Tom Mann to chat about their music, their time on Archie Roach’s Kitchen Table Yarn, and play us one of their songs, ‘Unceded’. You can catch their episode online on Youtube or Archie’s Facebook page.
