Muzafar Ali: Alternatives to military intervention and humanising the crisis
Posted on: Thu 26 Aug 2021
Muzafar Ali is the program director at Cisuara Learning, which supports refugee-led educational initiatives, with their flagship based in Indonesia.
He is also a student at the University of South Australia and a former Hazara refugee, who previously worked with the United Nations in Afghanistan around disbanding illegal armed groups and promoting human rights values.
Ali speaks about the failures of military intervention in Afghanistan, the negative impacts of the politicisation of a humanitarian crisis, and the importance of centring Afghan voices.
You can find a petition by the Afghan Australian Advocacy Network to Prime Minister Scott Morrison here.
You can also add your name to a joint statement calling for the protection of Afghan artists, artisans, writers and scholars to relevant Federal Ministers before Monday, August 30.
