In the US, the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan has sparked major debate around admitting refugees from the country.
While there is significant goodwill from the general public towards taking in refugees who have been displaced or have aided American forces in the past, traditional powers have emphasised the need to use the existing vetting systems.
Also in the US, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine after some hesitancy.
