Russell Pullen: My father Leon
Posted on: Mon 23 Aug 2021
Leon’s own father had served in the 2nd AIF, and became a prisoner of war after being captured in Crete during the withdrawal from Greece. Leon’s mother worked in the munitions factories at Hendon and Penfield. All of this seems to have had an incredible effect on the young Leon who ran away to sea. This is a fascinating story of the effects of war-time on a family. From the RSL A Time To Celebrate program, presented by Christian Teusner.
