On this day in history:
The first vaccination for a zoonotic disease was administered to a 9-year-old boy, saving his life, in 1885.
A Zoonotic disease is one which has jumped from a non-human animal to human, in this case, rabies.
Today marks world zoonoses day, which is very topical in the last couple of years, thanks to a bat.
On this day in 1957, John Lennon (16) & Paul McCartney (15) meet for 1st time as Lennon’s rock group Quarrymen perform at a church dinner.
Also, in 2002, Serena Williams beat her older sister Venus 7-6, 6-3 for her first Wimbeldon singles title in tennis.
