Wunyungar (Messenger): messages for a New Dreaming

After walking over 8000 km and visiting over 50 First Nations over the course of 12 months, Gooreng Gooreng and Wakka Wakka man Alwyn Doolan finally arrived in Canberra on election day in 2019. Ready to present the newly formed government with his message sticks: messages based on conversations he’d had with elders along the way. Messages that present the idea of a New Dreaming.
His journey as well as the aftermath of that day took a big toll on Alwyn and on First Nations across the country. Documentary maker Ryan Jasper is turning this story in a documentary called Wunyungar (Messenger). He tells us all about his time with Alwyn and the message of a New Dreaming that is presented by Alwyn and wrapped up in this documentary.
