“The idea is to make where we live a much better place; you leave it better than when you arrived at it.”

John Ford

Dedication to the Port Adelaide community has seen local artist, John Ford, awarded an Order of Australia Medal as part of the Queen’s birthday honorary listings, in recognition of his continual commitment and proactivity.

The Order of Australia awards – considered by the independent Council for the Order of Australia – are presented twice a year. The Medal of the Order of Australia is presented for service worthy of particular recognition.

John spoke with Festival City’s Emma Wotzke about his experience receiving an Order of Australia Medal, the journey leading to that moment and how he has come to see the value of service to community over the years.
