Zine: More than Melanin
Posted on: Wed 23 Jun 2021
More than Melanin is a not-for-profit zine showcasing the work of women and non-binary people of colour.
The first issue – which includes a range of fiction and non-fiction, as well as a photo essay – was published at the onset of the pandemic. E-copies are still available and can be accessed by directly messaging the More than Melanin Instagram or Facebook pages.
The second issue, a collection of poetry, is set to come out in the first week of July and is currently only available in print. Orders can be placed through the links above.
Kanika Chopra, who lives and works on unceded Wurundjeri land, is the creator and editor of the zine.
She speaks to us ahead of the second issue about how More than Melanin began and what spaces like this contribute to representation in the arts.
