‘Streets of Our Town’ is a segment where we meet the local makers, crafters and creative minds who are single-handedly shaping the arts scene on the streets of this town. We discuss their inspiration, their process and why they do what they do.
In this edition we meet tea maker Chaveli Goya and discuss how she blends flavours to conjure special memories, and transport people to happy places.
“I always have a reason for a blend…I wanted to recreate that memory and take people into my grandma’s house…And it’s actually really interesting because many people who have tried that blend have then turned around and said it almost feels like a warm hug.”

Chaveli, a trained pastry chef and aspiring artist, started the business to honour her great grandmother and the precious times they shared, often over a pot of tea.
Chaveli’s process also takes into consideration the health benefits of certain ingredients, with everything meticulously hand-blended in small batches, as well as thoughtful sustainable packaging and her own artwork.
