On this day in history:

In 1972 the 1000th victim was claimed to ‘The Troubles’, a Northern Island conflict between republican and loyalist parliaments.

The conflict was primarily political and nationalistic, and lasted about 30 years.

In 1611 was the first known performance of Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth

In 1979, US president Jimmy Carter was attacked by a swamp rabbit which swam up to his fishing boat in Georgia.

The moment was captured and splashed all over the newspapers.
