On this day in history:

In 1865, US President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theatre in Washington.

Also on this day, in 1981, the first Space Shuttle, Columbia 1, returned to earth after a 54 and a half hour trip. The shuttle was manned by a crew of two: John W. Young and Robert L. Crippen

Finally, In 2012 the Beastie boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
