Marine species are fleeing the equator

With tropical fish and other marine creatures already shifting south along Australia’s east coast, a new global study involving an Australian ecology researcher has confirmed a drop in species numbers in the warming waters near the equator.

To find out more Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to David Schoeman, Professor of Global – Change Ecology at the University of the Sunshine Coast. He co-authored the study, which was published this week.
