Around the world, six people lose part of their lower leg from diabetes complications every three minutes. 

Research candidate at Adelaide Medical School Kahlia Primer is working on a gene therapy that she hopes will eventually save many patients’ legs. 

Her therapy helps keep “blood vessel builders” alive in diabetic patients so they can repair wounds.

She talks to us about her work and possible implications.
