Apps against sexual violence are useless
Posted on: Mon 22 Mar 2021
Mick Fuller, the New South Wales Police Commissioner, last week suggested an app for consent to aid around concerns of sexual assault.
The idea was widely shot down and called by Fuller himself “the worst idea I have all year”.
Kathryn Henne, Director at the School of Regulation and Global Governance from the Australian National University, joins Zoe Kounadis and Tom Mann to reflect on the key aspects around the app suggestion.
For example, why this idea wouldn’t work and what such a suggestion shows about the understanding of someone who is responsible for facing this issue.
If you or someone you know needs support, you can contact the National Sexual Assault, Domestic and Family violence Counselling Service on 1800 Respect that is 1800 737 732 or in an emergency always call 000
