Government Slashes JobSeeker Payment Again
Posted on: Fri 19 Mar 2021
Yesterday, the decision to cut the JobSeeker payment down to $44 a day was passed by both major parties.
The cuts will come into effect at the beginning of April plunging hundreds of thousands of people below the poverty line.
The anti-poverty network along with the National Union of Students, Australian Unemployed Workers’ Union and those supportive to the cause have organised a demonstration outside Parliament House to fight for an increase to the JobSeeker payment.
Spokesperson from the Anti-Poverty Network, Pas Forgione, joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Paul Davies to discuss the ramifications of these cuts.
