On this day In 1905, Albert Einstein finished his scientific paper detailing his Quantum Theory of Light.

Einstein theorised that a beam of light is a swarm of discrete energy packets, later known as photons. He also suggested that this packeting of the energy was a property of electromagnetic radiation itself.

In 45 BC, Julius Caesar defeated the Pompeian forces of Pompey the Younger and Titus Labienus in the Battle of Munda, ending the Roman civil war.

This was Caesar’s final victory before his return to Rome and elected as the
Roman Dictator.

Finally, in 1992, a referendum to end apartheid in South Africa is passed 68.7% to 31.2%.

The referendum which was voted on by only white South Africans led to a continuation in negotiations for abolishment.
