fangirl noun
fan·girl | \ ˈfan-ˌgər(-ə)l \
Definition of fangirl
: a girl or woman who is an extremely or overly enthusiastic fan of someone or something
Justin Bieber has his Beliebers, Taylor Swift has her Swifties, One Direction had their directioners, Charli XCX has her army of angels, Lady Gaga’s fans are called her little monsters and twilight fans were dubbed twihards.
Whether its pop culture, subcultures, or counter cultures, the fangirl is present.
Yve Blake is a playwright, screenwriter and composer who wrote the book, music and lyrics for the musical FANGIRLS.
The award-winning musical is playing in Adelaide as part of this year’s Adelaide Festival.
Festival City’s Isabella Carbone chatted all things fangirls, internalised misogyny and boyband bops with Yve.
