Olympics under strict COVID-19 restrictions
Posted on: Mon 22 Feb 2021
The Olympics in Tokyo are set to start in July.
The International Olympic Committee, or IOC, has outlined the first rules for the athletes to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the major event. However, there are still doubts about the management of potential issues related to the virus, such as athletes having symptoms or testing “false positives”.
Lisa Gowthorp, Assistant Professor of Sport Management at Bond University, joins Tom Mann and Zoe Kounadis to discuss the COVID-19 rules for the Games and the remaining points to address by the IOC to host a COVID-safe event.
