Always Landing On My Feet…So To Speak

Posted on: Sun 21 Feb 2021

Kelly Vincent (pronouns: she/her, they/them) is highly respected not only in her hometown of Adelaide but also as a LGBTQIA+/disability advocate, former member of South Australian Parliament for the Dignity Party, Project Officer for the South Australian Rainbow Advocacy Alliance, freelance public speaker, writer and artist.

Vincent, who was born with cerebral palsy and diagnosed with autism as an adult, spoke to De-Stigmatised‘s Jarad McLoughlin about those with disabilities, including herself feeling unwelcomed and invalidated at pride events, adapting to living independently and how she handled telling her mum about not identifying as heterosexual when she was 16 years old.
