25 January—On this day
Posted on: Mon 25 Jan 2021
On this day in 1890 Nellie Bly completed her round-the-world journey in 72 days thus emulating Phileas Fogg, the main character of the novel Around the World in Eighty Days. Also, today in 1915, Alexander Graham Bell inaugurated US transcontinental telephone service, speaking from New York to Thomas Watson in San Francisco.
In music history, January 15 is a crucial date as Brian Epstein signed a management deal with The Beatles which, under his management, would become the most prominent band in the music industry.
