Former French President To Face Corruption and Influence-peddling Charges.

Former French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, has gone on trial accused of corruption and influence-peddling, for allegedly trying to bride a magistrate in return for information about an investigation into his party’s finances.
There is a long-running investigation into the right-wing politician, dating back to Mr Sarkozy’s election campaigns and period in office., when he led France from 2007-2012.
Mr Sarkozy denies any wrongdoing, and the trial is set to run until the 10th of December.
