9 November is a significant date for science and freedom.
The American astronomer, astrophysicist and communicator Carl Sagan was born on this day in 1934. Sagan co-wrote and narrated the classic television series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage which has been watched by 500 million viewers in more than 60 countries.
Also, the Fall of the Berlin Wall occurred on this day in 1989 and sparked a series of events that ultimately led to German reunification.
