Protecting the Plovers

Hooded plovers, as well as being very cute, are extremely vulnerable as beach-nesting birds with many potential predators and dangers. Birdlife Australia, with help from the Onkaparinga Council, helps to protect these birds, especially while they are nesting. Barometer’s Barry Mitchell went along with some volunteers to erect some temporary fencing and learn more about these interesting birds.
