Arthur Meets Jazz for SALA
Posted on: Thu 13 Aug 2020
The ARTHUR-Art Bar is one of Adelaide’s premier ‘prototype art bars’.
For SALA, their famously lively upstairs installation space (curated by Cassandra Tombs and populated by countless artists) has seen a renewal for SALA, as accompanied by some equally lively live jazz from The Very Modern Jazz Quartet.
Hailing from the Elder Conservatorium, the boys – consisting of Ben Lainio on trumpet, Thomas Byrne on bass, Cameron Tonkin on drums and the combined experience of Ben Anderson and Matthew Ahrens on the piano – are regular’s at Port Adelaide’s Railway Hotel and your best bet at simulating traditional New Orleans Swing in Adelaide.
3 of the boys joined DJ Big Bishop from Packed Lunch to chat about their beginnings and future. You can catch them playing for free on Friday and Saturday nights in Arthur’s highly stimulating setting. Come and see them from 9pm til 11pm until the end of August.
