Posted on: Tue 30 Jun 2020

On this day in history;

In 1859, The Great Blondin (Jean François Gravelet) performed his death-defying tightrope walk over Niagra Falls for the first time. He proceeded to repeat the walk 8 times until 1860, with different variations – one including him cooking and eating an omelette halfway through.

In 1972, the first leap second was added to the UTC time system. 27 seconds have been added since.

In 1977, electro-pop group The Human League formed in Sheffield, England.

Producer Leon Bishop joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann to elaborate on these events in history.
