Many of us have come into contact with prescription opioids in our lives – be it for chronic pain, a serious injury or recovery from surgery.
While they might be beneficial in providing short-term relief in some circumstances, they are not recommended for long-term use and can become addictive.
Dr Chris Moy, President of the Australian Medical Association SA, explains how the misuse of prescription opioids has become a silent epidemic around the country, and how individuals and loved ones can seek help.
