Rescuing ATSI knowledge through visual elements

Elder Aboriginal Australians have traditionally passed their wisdom to younger generations through their cultural activities, like storytelling and crafting. However, the British colonisation greatly affected the preservation of this bond.
UniSA researcher Jelina Haines has developed a project—a combination between video ethnography and knowledge maps—to help elder Ngarrindjeri Aboriginal people share their knowledge.
Ms Haines joins Breakfast to discuss this project which might also be used as a vehicle for other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders communities to transmit their culture to further generations.
