Peter Jesser: The Papuan Infantry Battalion Part 1

Posted on: Mon 10 Feb 2020

Everyone in Australia knows of the Kokoda Track and The Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels who helped the wounded back to Port Moresby during WW2 in Papua New Guinea. The story not often told is the one of the Papuan Infantry Battalion and their role in chasing the Japanese out of their country, earning for themselves the name “Green shadows”  This is their story ,the story of the PIB.

Note from Louise Jesser:   I had the great pleasure in interviewing my brother Peter Jesser about the PIB and our father, Major Harold Jesser MC, and his involvement in the Battalion during World War 2.
