Twitter trolls spread bushfire disinformation

Social media analysis suggests bots and troll accounts are involved in a disinformation campaign which is spreading false claims, exaggerating arson as a cause of the current bushfire disaster. The campaign aims to undermine the link between the Australian bushfires and climate change. Analysis of this campaign is being done by specialists in digital communication here in Australia. To gain a first hand view of this analysis, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to Daniel Angus, Associate Professor of Digital Communication, in the School of Communication at the Queensland University of Technology.
