On This Day in 1895, the German physicist Wilhelm Roentgen discovered the X-rays which revolutionised the fields of medicine and physics. However, in the first years, the use of X-rays caused the death of many people due to heavy radiation exposure, especially scientists like Thomas Edison’s assistant.
Also, Rickie Lee Jones turns 64 today. Jones was included in the 1999’s VH1 list of the Greatest Women in Rock and Roll. Her song ‘The Horses’, co-written with Steele Dan’s Walter Becker, was covered by Daryl Braithwaite and became an Australian hit single in 1991.
