On This Day;

in 1969, Northern Star and Illinois University newspapers started the infamous “Paul McCartney is dead” rumour. The rumour suggests that McCartney died in a car accident and that The Beatles hid clues to his death and cover-up in their subsequent releases.

in 1971, Jan Vermeer’s painting “The Love Letter” was stolen from The Centre of Fine Arts in Brussels, motivated by the recent Bangladesh genocide.

Breakfast’s Zoe Kounadis and Tom Mann elaborate on these and more events in history.
