On This Day;

in 1932, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi begins a hunger strike in protest of the British government’s decision to separate India’s electoral system by caste.

His “fast-unto-death” pressured the British government into accepting the principal terms of a settlement after protesting the governmental support of a new Indian Constitution.

Breakfast producer Zak Stuart joins Zoe Kounadis and Tom Mann to explain more about this event in history.
