PROTECTIONS FOR WHISTLEBLOWERS
Posted on: Wed 14 Aug 2019
In the wake of the major and very public raids of the ABC and a journalist’s home earlier this year, public hearings into press freedom have begun.
Major media organisations have rallied behind the importance of strong journalism, though there is heavy debate about how this impacts Australia’s national security.
A less discussed aspect of the debate is the importance in the role of whisteblowers.
AJ Brown, Professor of Public Policy & Law, Centre for Governance & Public Policy, Griffith University joins Breakfast’s Zoe Kounadis and Tom Mann to explain the importance of the protection of journalistic freedoms.
