In 1879, the first Australian rules football game to be played at night took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

In 1932, the first Venice Film Festival opens, making it the world’s oldest film festival.

In 1961, the first case of motion sickness in space reported. Soviet Cosmonaut Gherman Titov became the first human to vomit in space.
