On this day in 1799, a French soldier discovers the Rosetta Stone, about 35 miles north of Alexandria.
In 1915 the head of German propaganda in the US, Dr Heinrich Albert, loses his briefcase on a subway in New York City.
And in 1968 the Beatles recorded their classic, Ob La Di Ob La Da.
