Impacts of new security laws on journalism

This week the Australian Federal Police conducted raids both on a Newscorp journalist and the ABC newsroom. The raids were in response to stories that, according to the AFP, contained ‘the alleged publishing of information classified as an official secret’. Rebecca Ananian-Welsh, senior lecturer with the TC Beirne School of Law at the University of Queensland, discusses Australia’s expanding national security law and how it’s impacting journalism.
