City-based Food Hub responding to food insecurity
Posted on: Thu 30 May 2019
In December last year, Baptist Care SA launched the first Community Food Hub located in the city’s CBD.
The hub allows South Australians on a low income to purchase food items and other groceries at a very low cost.
Coordinator, Mark Finlay, explains the service the hub provides, the people who walk through it’s doors, and the vital work of its volunteers.
He says they get over 50 people coming in every day, an indicator of the broader issue of food insecurity experienced by many people around Australia.
